Creek Monster Habitat
Our Creek Monster Habitat served as a street-level beacon for Creek Show, inviting spectators and curious onlookers of all ages to explore Waller Creek. We raised awareness of the environment and our responsibility as its stewards. Our Creek Monster Habitat welcomed 60,000 visitors into is magical space at the southern edge of Austin’s most anticipated new community park.
The Creek Monster Habitat honors the spirit and life of all creatures of the creek. Equal parts installation, soundscape, visual spectacle, and community engagement, our habitat brings together theatrical, outdoor, and performative elements. It is a space to meet the shy, bashful spirit Monster, the guardian of the creek. It is also a space to contemplate all of the life (animal, human, plant) that has touched the creek and the life that will follow.
This project was made possible through the support of the UT Green Fund, Texas Applied Arts, Texas Performing Arts, the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy and the University of Texas at Austin College of Fine Arts.
